Soccer League News

Hello Southern Oregon Soccer Academy Members~

As of today, April 16th, 2020... after trying very hard to provide a spring soccer season for all member players, we must unfortunately announce the Cancellation of the 2020 Spring Season.  This is very disappointing and we want to make sure and support every player and family with their needs moving forward and looking forward to the 2020 Fall Season.  Please read the following information carefully and thank you all so very much for your support!

OYSA PTTL Spring:
OYSA has canceled all State Leagues and Games for spring.

Southern Oregon Classic League (Comp & HS):
As of 4/16/2020, the SOCL has canceled its spring season games.

Development League of Southern Oregon (Recreational):
As of 4/16/2020, the DLSO has canceled scheduling for spring season games.

Practices for Teams:
Unfortunately, the Phoenix/Talent School District has canceled all SOSA facility use for this spring.  Due to students not physically returning to school this spring, no organizations will be able to host activities on school grounds.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Recreational Players:
1. Families who paid for both Fall and Spring can seek a $25 refund for this spring season.  -registering for 'both seasons' in fall is at a reduced rate.
2. Those who paid for spring only can seek a $65 refund OR ask to have their registration rolled over to the fall 2020 season.

Competitive Players
1. SOSA can offer all players who have registered for 'Spring Only 2020' to be refunded $95 in full.

*All Refund Requests must be emailed directly to SOSA at: sosocceracademy@gmail.com

*We can offer refunds via PayPal or by mailed check (for a check refund, please include a mailing address in your email)

*If we have not received notification from a family with a refund request by May 22nd, we will automatically register that player for the fall 2020 season, Fall Only.

Due to the Oregon State 'Stay at Home' orders, many small businesses and non-profit organizations have been hit very hard economically.  We at SOSA will be asking all members for patience and support as we work to reply to emails while working to grant your requests.  It is our hope that many players will want to roll their spring registration over to fall, and begin looking forward to a fun and rewarding season to come!

Please know that SOSA supports each and every member coach, player and family.  We understand how disappointing it is to not be out playing this beautiful game.  We assure you that we are working toward making this coming fall season a wonderful experience for everyone.

Thank you for your understanding and your support as we all navigate this situation together.  Please stay healthy and active and we look forward to seeing you in the fall~

Hello Southern Oregon Soccer Academy Members~

We at SOSA are managing to make the best of these tough times.  Juggling the soccer ball in the backyard, creating individual fitness routines, watching old World Cup games and some are even playing FIFA 20!

No matter what you are doing, we hope that you are keeping 'soccer minded' and looking forward to the next time we get to take the field!

As of 4/09/2020, this is our current announcement regarding the spring season practices and games.  We will send out updates based on the receipt of new information~

OYSA PTTL Spring:
OYSA has canceled all State Leagues and Games for spring.

SOCL (Comp & HS) League:
Games are canceled until May 2nd at earliest.  We will not know more until the SOCL Board makes a determination on games for May.

DLSO (Rec) League:
Games are currently canceled until May 2nd.  US Club Soccer has suspended all soccer-related activities until April 30th.  We will not know more until the DLSO Board makes a determination on games for May.

Practices
Practices are currently canceled until further notice. Now that students will not be physically returning to school this year, it is our hope that the Phoenix/Talent School District will allow us to practice on field following the release of the social-distancing mandate, after April 30th.

We want everyone to know that SOSA cares about their health and safety, which includes their activity in the sport.  Please follow the CDC guidelines and State precautionary regulations regarding the reduction of the spread of COVID-19. Know that SOSA supports you and your family and your love for the beautiful game of soccer.

In addition… former Timber and now broadcaster, Ross Smith, has created a series of exercises that players can do on their own outside with a ball and a brick wall. Hello Southern Oregon Soccer Academy Members~

SOSA, along with most clubs in the Rogue Valley, are still moving forward with the hope and determination that there will be safe, supportive and healthy practices and games for players this season.

As of 3/21/2020, there is our current announcement (next announcement on April 9th)~

OYSA Leagues -SOCL & PTTL Spring: Due to most Oregon schools being currently closed until at least April 28 and Washington schools until April 24, the committee decided that there will be no scheduled OYSA games in April.  For PTTL Spring League, games are postponed through the end of April also.  OYSA will attempt to get as many games as possible rescheduled on play dates in May, up to Memorial Day.
DLSO (Rec) League: Games are currently canceled until May 2nd.  -This will allow players to get out on the field prior to games when possible.

Practices:  Practices are currently canceled until further notice. We hope to be able to be out on the field after April 12th.  SOSA will update with another announcement on April 9th.

A note from OYSA and SOSA~
“Juggling or kicking the ball on your own or with a family member will not be canceled. Watching YouTube soccer videos or reruns of classic games and World Cups will not be canceled. Shining your boots for the next time you get to wear them will not be canceled. Your love of the sport will not be canceled!”
Think of ways to inspire your players while keeping yourself and your families safe, wherever you are.  Lean on each other at your clubs for help, support and encouragement during these uncertain times.  We must persevere and be better for it when it passes.  Make the most of this break from the fields by being progressive and trying to make your family, club and community stronger.

Even though schools in some of our areas are closed for the next 6 weeks, we still have an opportunity to inspire our players to get out in their yard with their ball.  Ideas range from; reviewing online training plans, or to create competitions with phone video submissions within a team or among friends.

The players are craving time with a ball and now have time to do it.  Players can check out the online postings of soccer tricks and see if they can master them!
